If yes, we have the perfect role for you We are looking to recruit an Independent Travel Training Trainer to join our amazing SEND Transport Team and help play a central role in achieving positive outcomes for children and young people in Wokingham About the service This is an excellent opportunity to join our new and expanding SEND Transport Team as our in-house Independent Travel Training (ITT) Trainer and help make a difference in the lives of children and young people. About the role As the ITT Trainer, you will work with our SEN Children in developing their travel independence. The successful candidate will ideally have a background in working with Children with SEN needs and preferably experience in independent travel training. However, full training will be provided. This is initially a 12 months fixed term contract working 20 hours per week. Key purpose of job To deliver Independent Travel Training by providing appropriate road safety and bus/train awareness training and support for children and young people with special needs. To work with the SEND transport officers to embed Independent Travel Training, ensuring training is considered within transport applications, EHCP assessments and annual reviews. Act as an independence champion for children and young people, giving time and expertise to undertake meaningful conversations with children and families, colleagues, and partners to promote the benefits of independent travel training. Anticipated outcomes of post Children and young people travel independently and with confidence, so they can get to school or college and for social and leisure activities. Children and Young People are prepared for safer and more confident engagement with the community by becoming more independent. Parents and carers are reassured that their child is being supported to become more independent.
