Job Description:
Your new company
You will be working for a Kent based local authority ensuring their private sector stock is maintained to a safe, well-managed condition, focusing specifically on damp & mould issues. Working within a small but experienced team supporting the environmental health practitioner & legal department, you will be covering properties across East Kent working in a hybrid capacity, working between the office and home.
Your new role
As maintenance surveyor, your priority will be to assess and ultimately facilitate the removal of damp and mould in housing stock, ensuring that appropriate housing advice is provided to tenants, landlords, and agents. You will survey and assess housing conditions and, where necessary, assist in taking enforcement actions. You’ll likely spend a couple of days inspecting properties and then a day from home completing reports. You’ll also assist with managing minor building works. Properties are potentially located at a distance from one another; therefore, a driving licence and your own vehicle are both essential.
What you'll need to succeed
You’ll have experience identifying, assessing, and developing solutions for removing dampness. You should have general building surveying knowledge as well as experience supervising building contracts. You will be comfortable writing reports, liaising with/supporting other departments, and issuing environmental notices when needed. You’ll possess a clean driving licence and access to a car for travel. A HNC level 4 or above qualification or an HNC is highly desirable, as is the ability to confidently use IT software systems, such as NEC M3.
What you'll get in return
This is a long-term contract offering the benefit of hybrid working if needed. You'll receive an hourly rate of up to £25 per hour DOE plus the opportunity to manage your own time and workload with limited supervision.
