Fixed term to September 2025 with a view to extend
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a self-motivated, proactive, and efficient individual to join Healthworks to work as part of the Tobacco Dependency Treatment service.
About Us
Healthworks is a national award-winning charity working with disadvantaged local communities to tackle health inequalities and improve their health and wellbeing through social prescribing. Based in Newcastle, but working across the region for over 29 years, our patron is Professor Michael Marmot. Our work has been recognised by a King’s Fund/GSK award for our work improving the physical and mental health of people across the North East of England.
We work in partnership with NHS and Local Authority colleagues and communities in many sectors to devise cost effective solutions that secure sustainable health impacts for many conditions that inhibit quality of life.
The Role
You will:
* Work as part of the onsite hospital Tobacco Dependency Treatment Service team to provide behavioural support and treatment in relation to tobacco smoking.
* Ensure safe, well-organised and evidenced-based care is offered routinely to all identified smokers.
* Work alongside our partnership organisations to give every child the best start in life.
* Use health coaching skills to help people develop their knowledge, skills, and confidence to be active participants in their self-care.
* Following regional and national guidelines, you will provide a quality service to encourage and support individuals to stop smoking, promoting the benefits of quitting and education on the dangers to health.
About You
You will be an enthusiastic individual, motivated to use your skills to make a real difference for our clients. You will be passionate about supporting the needs of our clients while they initiate and sustain behavioural change to improve their health.
The successful candidate will embrace and reflect the values upheld by Healthworks. Our commitment to tackling health inequalities is at the heart of everything we do.
Our Commitment
We know how important our team is to the amazing work that we do in our local communities. So in return we offer:
* 27 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
* Free membership to both our gyms.
* Training and development opportunities.
* The opportunity to work for a friendly and positive organisation that genuinely makes a difference to people’s lives.
We value the diversity of our staff and welcome applications from all suitably qualified individuals regardless of race, sex, disability, religion/belief, sexual orientation or age.
We are committed to taking positive and proactive steps to ensure that we provide a safe and caring environment, free from discrimination for everyone.
