Ontic, a leading licensor and manufacturer of complex engineering parts for the global aerospace and defence industries, are now recruiting for a Head of Engineering to join our MRO Europe business where you’ll lead the engineering function ensuring technical excellence, regulatory compliance and continuous improvement within MRO operations. This role will be based at our newly created Ontic Tewkesbury site but travel between all of our Gloucestershire sites should be expected. The Role: This role leads the engineering function, ensuring technical excellence, regulatory compliance, and continuous innovation within MRO operations. You will drive product and process improvements, enhance efficiency, and support the growth of MRO capabilities to meet turnaround time (TAT) targets across all product lines. Key responsibilities include measuring performance against KPIs, optimising team effectiveness, and overseeing the development and progression of team members. You’ll lead the MRO engineering function, ensuring all repair and overhaul activities meet aerospace standards. Develop and implement strategies to optimize repair processes, reduce turnaround times, and enhance efficiency. Drive innovation in repair techniques, materials, and technologies. Collaborate with operations and quality teams to resolve technical issues and improve performance. Oversee knowledge transfer for new product lines to meet return-to-run targets quickly. Lead, mentor, and develop the MRO engineering team, fostering technical excellence. Provide guidance on complex engineering challenges and ensure compliance with aerospace regulations (EASA, FAA, CAA, CAAC, AS9110). Identify and implement new technologies, apply lean principles, and drive cost reduction. Evaluate technical documents, lead root cause investigations, and ensure corrective actions. Support workforce planning, training, and adherence to company policies and statutory regulations.
