Environmental Support & Enforcement Officer - Team Leader
Bassetlaw District Council
£14.00 per hour, working 40-50 hours per week Mon-Fri, Occasional Sat.
Waste Investigations Support & Enforcement (WISE) are a leading supplier who work in correlation with many Local Authorities to help assist with the infamous issue of Littering & Fly Tipping within the boroughs. Utilising state of the art technology, together with vast experience within the industry and a clear, coherent understanding of PACE & all relevant legislation, WISE are a favourable supplier.
Main Purpose of the Role for the Enforcement Team Leader
As an Environmental Support & Enforcement Team Leader, you will be required to patrol the borough in an intelligence led manner, and when necessary, enforcing the legislation in which you will be authorised to act on - this would be done by issuing an on-the-spot Fixed Penalty Notice.
Within your role as Enforcement Team Leader, you will be:
* Brand Ambassador for the local authority and WISE, acting as the first point of call for the clients.
* Patrolling the borough in accordance with an agreed deployment strategy.
* Investigating complaints and ensuring all outcomes are documented.
* Ensure all teams’ equipment is signed in and out on a day-to-day basis.
* Ensuring that for any periods of annual leave/absence are covered, ensuring an exceptional service delivery is continuous.
* Ensure your team completes a daily vehicle inspection form before driving any company vehicle.
* Engaging and educating members of the public regarding Environmental Crime related offences.
* Follow WISE’s Standard Operating Instruction when issuing a Fixed Penalty Notice.
* Attending Court and giving evidence is required.
The Ideal Candidate for the Enforcement Team Leader will have:
* The ability to communicate with all members of the public, at times in demanding circumstances - it is important for the candidate to remain resilient.
* The ability to use own initiative when carrying out their role, and work within a team environment.
* Understanding that this role is based outdoors, regularly on foot in all weather conditions.
* Clear and concise writing skills.
* Will be physically fit as you may be required to carry out foot patrol for prolonged periods.
* Capable to successfully complete their Enviro Crime Induction Course and be signed off as being competent for independent patrol by their assigned Training Officer.
* Driving Licence preferred.
This is a full-time contract, whereby you will be required to work 5 days, Monday to Friday with the occasional Saturday, amounting to a 40-50 hours per week. The successful candidate will be paid £14 per hour, access to 28 days’ annual leave (including bank holidays).
