Job Title: Shift Operations Manager
Salary: £35,000
Work Pattern: 4 on 4 off, 6am - 6pm
Location: Gatwick Airport

Ready for your career to take off? We're seeking a Night Shift Operations Manager to play an integral role delivering a first-class service and achieving fantastic results.
WHAT DOES THE ROLE ENTAIL?
* Implement actions as directed to reduce or eliminate health and safety related risks.
* Implement Behavioural Based Safety (BBS) program on a daily basis to confirm behaviours and processes are followed as specified.
* Report and investigate incidents within the work place and respond to or escalate issues of non compliance to safety regulations and procedures.
* Ensuring corrective and preventable actions are put in place.
* Ensure that all drivers are following the correct procedures in place relating to transport and any defects reported in the correct timely manner.
* Communicate all relevant DPDHL policies/Site specific document to frontline colleagues and monitor their implementation on a regular basis.
* Support the Site Lead & H&S Manager in the managing of the DHL Safety arrangements (SA) for the site, including the understanding and detailing of the SA's, implementing best practices in accordance to these and the managing of these across the site.
* Manage day-to-day performance of shift, have a clear understanding of objectives/KPIs applicable to your role/shift/site, including the achievement of agreed customer KPIs and other internal KPIs (eg. safety, operational, employee related etc). To ensure that they, as a minimum, meet our contractual obligations.
* Communicate productivity to your team ensuring they have a clear understanding of what is expected from them - including communication to new hires.
* Have a clear understanding of Roles & Responsibilities applicable to your role and to your team.
* Support management with resource planning and management e.g. rota creation, gaps in rota, holiday cover, implement agreed processes to review performance, monitor absence and sickness and address issues within clear guidelines.
* Identify and escalate training and qualification gaps through regular one to ones with your team and then escalate to the training department.
* Participate in regular operation reviews and conduct regular colleague briefings via the use of Performance Dialogue boards and regular briefings.
* Ensure colleagues are registering the indirect hours properly, by checking pending approvals in Smart Time.
* Track attendance of your employees at individual level and indicate deviations - update the resource planning tool (if needed) and manage accordingly.
* Contribute for performance tracking improvement, by sharing opportunity of Standard Productivity Rates review with line manager. Conduct performance reviews and coaching with all direct reports and recommend performance ratings to management.
* Support the Site Lead to review the Standard Operational Procedures (SOP) and Work Instructions (WI) for the site, including understanding and detailing best practices and deviations that may occur during the process' execution.
* Ensure your colleagues are properly trained on training matrix established for each position, including onboarding trainings to new hires - via training matrix and schedule.
WHAT DO WE NEED FROM YOU?
* Full UK Driving License.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Must have a positive, can-do, upbeat personality.
* Able to remain calm under pressure.
* Must excel in time management skills and require minimal supervision.
* Able to stand for long periods of time.
* Advanced Computer Skills Required.
* A proven track record in managing a business unit.
* Organizing and planning skills, with the ability and initiative to react effectively and quickly to unexpected circumstances.
* A working knowledge of GSE maintenance issues.
* Understanding of the wider airport operational environment.
SECURITY PROCESS TO WORK WITHIN AVIATION AND TRAVEL AT DHL
* Be able to provide five years address history.
* Be able to provide five years reference history (employment/education/benefit claim/character).
* To obtain a full airside ID.
