Head of Service, establishing a new specialist Fostering Agency focused on Children with Disabilities
We are excited to announce that we are developing a new innovative fostering agency dedicated to providing family placements for children aged 0-18 years who have medical conditions, disabilities, and complex needs. We are seeking a Head of Service to lead the development of this much needed service to be based in the Midlands / North West of England.
We are looking for a dynamic forward thinking experienced social work leader. The role will initially involve developing and setting up the team and then being the Head of Service, Ideally we would prefer the candidate to have experience working with children with disabilities. The Role:
* Lead the strategic vision and development of the disability fostering service
* Manage a team including qualified social workers and administrators
* Oversee the growth and development of foster carer recruitment, assessment, and support.
* Ensure services meet regulatory standards, with a focus on compliance and quality assurance.
* Manage resources, budgets, business plans, and performance monitoring systems.
* Foster a high-performing, motivated team through effective leadership, coaching, and mentoring.
* Develop and maintain positive productive working relationships with service providers and regulators
* To Chair regular safeguarding meeting’s and ensure that reports are sent to the Safeguarding Board
* To attend any child protection conferences, reviews or planning meetings as appropriate in particularly complex situations.
* To keep abreast of best practice and developments in childcare and fostering practice, that may in turn influence the professional work of the organisation through its policies and practices.
The Ideal Candidate:
* Experienced Manager or senior management professional within the fostering sector.
* Strong knowledge of child-related regulatory standards and legislation.
* Proven ability to manage and develop teams, including recruiting, training, and supporting staff.
* A track record of successfully managing business growth and developing strategic initiatives.
* Understanding of financial management, including budget management and financial forecasting.
* Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills, with a focus on empathy and transparency.
