The Opportunity
Looking for a Chartered Design Engineer with expertise in mechanical services and a strong focus on design excellence? Our client offers a proven track record in leading projects, from preparing briefs to attending design reviews and approving technical drawings.
* Sustainability Focus: Drive Net Zero roadmap with sustainable solutions and lead decarbonisation strategies.
* Design Leadership: Own and update Building Design Guides, ensuring top-tier practices are embedded in every project.
* Support for Estates: Assist with Pre-Acquisition Surveys, TDD, Condition, and Dilapidation Surveys.
Responsibilities
* The candidate will act as the design authority on projects, promoting design excellence.
* Prepare outline briefs, performance specifications, attend design reviews, approve technical drawings, review and approve derogations from employers' requirements, and carry out value engineering reviews of external consultants' designs.
* Deliver sustainable solutions that contribute to the Net Zero roadmap and lead on decarbonisation strategies.
* Assume ownership of the suite of Building Design Guides and be responsible for their periodic review and updating, ensuring that sustainable products and construction best practices are incorporated into the estates at project conception.
* Assist the wider Estates team in carrying out Pre-Acquisition Surveys, TDD (Technical Due Diligence), Condition Surveys, and Dilapidation Surveys.
Desired Experience
* Qualified Design Engineer - Chartered/MCIBSE status or working towards.
* Proven experience in mechanical engineering design within the building services industry.
* Ability to write technical reports (RIBA 0-2, feasibility, issue investigation, condition/dilap surveys).
* Experience creating outline briefs, scope of works, and performance specifications for planned maintenance and lifecycle works packages.
* Experience of working with digital engineering tools, such as CAD/Revit, and delivering projects in a BIM environment.
* Experience with new build, refurbishment, and fit-out projects.
