Responsibilities will include:
* Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to rapidly develop working prototypes, drawing on previous marine experience to establish system architecture and design
* Responsible for device configuration and testing, including sensors, actuators and networking systems.
* Develop integrated solutions involving hardware, software, and networking technologies that meet project and regulatory requirements.
* Oversee system integration, prototyping, simulation, and testing to validate design assumptions.
* Producing documentation to support commissioning and setting to work activities
* Conducting sea trials, including testing and validation of software, hardware systems, networking and whole craft system integration
* Working with the software and engineering teams to ensure software and documentation are delivered on time to meet project timescales
* Working to the highest safety standards for software development, test and validation
* Practical mindset with a can-do approach to problem solving
Qualifications and Experience:
Essential –
* Degree level qualification in Mechatronics, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
* Hardware integration and testing experience ideally within the marine sector
Desirable –
* An understanding of control strategy
* PLC programming, including Codesys
* An understanding of basic electronics
* Software development in modern C++ and/or Python
* Experience with CAN bus
* Experience with industry standard communication protocols, such as CANOpen, NMEA2000, NMEA0183
Note: Due to the nature of work undertaken at SubSea Craft, the selected candidate must be capable of meeting the security requirements of the position, which would include as a minimum Existing right to live and work in the UK, Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), with Security Check likely for specific projects.
