MOT Tester
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented MOT Tester / Vehicle Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting thorough inspections and tests on vehicles to ensure they meet safety and environmental standards. This role requires a strong mechanical knowledge, attention to detail, and excellent customer service skills. The MOT Tester will work closely with customers to explain findings and recommend necessary repairs.
Responsibilities
* Conduct MOT tests on a variety of vehicles in accordance with legal requirements.
* Perform visual inspections and use diagnostic equipment to assess vehicle condition.
* Identify any faults or issues that may affect vehicle safety or performance.
* Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and recommendations.
* Assemble and disassemble components as required for testing purposes.
* Utilise hand tools and power tools safely and effectively during inspections and repairs.
* Provide exceptional customer service by communicating test results clearly and professionally.
* Repair or replace faulty components as necessary, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
* Collaborate with team members to maintain a clean and organised workshop environment.
* Stay updated on industry regulations, best practices, and advancements in automotive technology.
Experience
* Proven experience as an MOT Tester or in a similar role within the automotive industry is preferred.
* Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to read and interpret schematics.
* Familiarity with equipment repair processes and techniques.
* Ability to perform heavy lifting as required during vehicle inspections or repairs.
* Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment effectively.
* Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to customers.
