Job Advertisement: SEN Teaching Assistant Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and passionate SEN (Special Educational Needs) Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Wilmslow. This is a full-time position starting in January and continuing until the end of the academic year, with the potential for the role to become permanent based on performance. About the Role: As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with diverse educational needs, ensuring they have access to a safe and inclusive learning environment. Your role will focus on helping students overcome barriers to learning, building their confidence, and enabling them to achieve their full potential. Key Responsibilities: Provide one-to-one and group support for students with special educational needs, including autism, learning difficulties, and social, emotional, or mental health challenges. Collaborate with teachers to adapt lessons and resources to meet the individual needs of students. Assist in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and personalized strategies to support student progress. Promote positive behavior and emotional resilience, using proactive strategies to manage challenges. Monitor and record student progress, contributing to reports for staff and parents/carers. Foster a nurturing and supportive atmosphere that encourages student independence and confidence. Support students during unstructured times such as break and lunch to promote social interaction and inclusion. What We’re Looking For: The ideal candidate will: Have experience working with children or young people with special educational needs, either in an educational or care setting. Demonstrate patience, empathy, and the ability to build strong relationships with students and staff. Be proactive, adaptable, and able to respond to the varied needs of students effectively. Possess excellent communication skills and a commitment to promoting inclusion and equality. Have relevant qualifications or previous experience in a similar role (desirable but not essential).
