Main purpose of role: Risk mitigation through effective contract negotiation and management.
Reporting to the Head of Legal, the Senior Contracts Advisor will provide strategic commercial and contractual expertise and guidance in support of Centurion’s pre and post contract award phases.
The role requires strong, collaborative relationships within the business, with Centurion’s clients and suppliers across the supply chain.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Key role working closely with Group Contracts Manager.
• Review new contracts, identify clauses that may be detrimental to the business and make qualifications as necessary, in line with contracting policies.
• Analysis of contracts and Ts & Cs to highlight risk areas and inform management of these risks.
• Advise on risk mitigation strategies within the confines of agreed Ts & Cs.
• Negotiate contracts / Ts & Cs with customer and supplier counterparts.
• Assist Business Development and project teams with contractual and commercial matters that may arise when tendering, including tax, insurance and guarantee issues.
• Seek approvals in line with the authority and approval framework.
• Ensure relevant support functions are consulted in a timely manner.
• Co-ordinate commercial input into contracts administration processes relating to variations, change orders, formal notices, etc.
• Ensure formality of the contract is followed at all times.
• Update contracts registers and monitor contracts for renewal dates and notification requirements, etc.
• Negotiate “ordinary course of business” NDAs.
• Assist in the resolution of contractual claims and disputes.
• Assist Group functions with compliance matters (Finance, HSEQ, Tax, Legal, HR).
• Support Head of Legal and Head of Compliance on legal and compliance issues.
• Provide advice to regional management teams on contractual and commercial issues.
• At all times, implement and work in accordance with the policies of the business, such as HSE, Contracting, Anti-Bribery, Export Control & Sanctions and Group Authority Limits.
• The job holder may be required to carry out any other related or associated roles, tasks or duties, which they can be trained, instructed and supervised and according to changing business requirements.

Knowledge:
• Knowledge and exposure to contracts and approach to contracting in service sector.

Qualifications and certification:
• Degree or equivalent in legal / commercial discipline with previous industry experience (preferably service sector).
Experience:
• Experience in contract negotiation
• Experience of maintaining records of contract negotiations / commercial transactions.
