Community Wellbeing Project Officer (Community Connector)
Adult and Older People’s Service
3 x 37 hour fixed term posts (due to end 31.03.2026)
About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within our well-established Adult Community Team, which delivers services to achieve the best outcomes for a variety of people over the age of 18 who have care and support needs. We are looking for 3 highly motivated individuals to join our expanding Adult Community Teams.
Role Overview
This post provides a fantastic opportunity to work for Newcastle City Council at a very exciting time. We have recently adjusted our focus to work with individuals within their own localities across the city. The workers in these teams have the opportunity to build and maintain working relationships with people, their carers, and the services in their area.
The aim is to bring the people we work with better opportunities and help connect them with their neighbourhood, increasing their independence and reducing/delaying the need for long-term services. This focus on neighbourhoods is a cultural change, and as part of our Community Connector scheme, you will help towards the development of a new way of working.
Key Responsibilities
The role involves recognizing, valuing, and building on the strengths of individuals, communities, associations, and services that strengthen relationships and connect people together. We want to provide better opportunities, improve wellbeing, and connect individuals with their neighbourhoods.
Requirements
You need to:
1. Have the skills to connect and build collaboration across neighbourhoods.
2. Have knowledge of building links with Newcastle’s voluntary and community sector, private industry, and reaching people who are not engaged.
Commitment to Welfare
We are committed to protecting and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment. This post involves working with children and/or vulnerable adults. If successful, we will undertake additional recruitment checks, including a check for criminal convictions and police information.
Benefits
In addition, you will receive:
1. A dedicated 10-day induction.
2. Access to induction and role-specific training.
3. The support of a very experienced and supportive team, committed to improving outcomes for the adults we work with.
4. Generous annual leave in addition to Bank Holidays, with the ability to buy additional leave annually.
5. Options for flexible and hybrid working.
6. Access to Mindfulness sessions and other wellbeing initiatives.
7. Access to a generous, defined benefit pension scheme.
