About the role
We are hiring an Engineering Team Leader at our Ossett site to lead a team of 3 engineers on shift. This hands-on role involves managing and participating in all aspects of daily site maintenance, working a 12-hour shift pattern on days and nights, with overtime available.
Responsibilities:
1. Leadership:
o Collaborate with Production Team Leads/Managers to deliver high-quality engineering support aligned with operational targets.
o Supervise and coordinate engineering activities supporting manufacturing operations.
o Achieve KPIs related to equipment performance, reliability, breakdowns, and maintenance completion.
o Coach and develop the engineering team in safe working practices and fault diagnosis.
o Plan and coordinate team resources for timely task completion.
o Motivate and manage team activities to meet performance targets, and develop skills and competencies.
o Participate in Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing activities.
o Support other teams/departments as needed, demonstrating company values.
o Manage non-conformance and corrective actions to ensure compliance.
2. Hands-on tasks:
o Attend to reactive maintenance needs.
o Assist in developing PPM systems and scheduling maintenance.
o Perform operational tasks complying with legislation and procedures.
o Fault diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of machinery.
o Communicate effectively with production staff about issues.
o Ensure high line availability by minimizing downtime.
o Conduct effective root cause analysis.
o Manage maintenance tools, stores, and equipment.
o Contribute to site improvements.
Candidate Profile:
Ideal candidates will have:
* Experience in an FMCG environment.
* Apprenticeship in an engineering discipline, with relevant qualifications or experience.
* Strong fault-finding skills.
* PLC fault-finding (desirable).
* Leadership experience preferred but not mandatory.
