Our client is seeking a skilled civil structural engineer to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil engineering with a focus on structural design and analysis. You will be responsible for designing, planning, and overseeing the construction of various infrastructure projects, ensuring they meet safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Structural Design: Design and analyse structures such as bridges, buildings, dams, and other infrastructure projects using engineering principles and software tools.
2. Project Planning: Develop project plans, including schedules, budgets, and resource allocation, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget constraints.
3. Technical Calculations: Perform structural calculations, simulations, and analysis to assess the integrity and performance of designs, considering factors such as load-bearing capacity, stability, and environmental impacts.
4. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure designs comply with relevant building codes, regulations, and industry standards, obtaining necessary permits and approvals from regulatory authorities.
5. Collaboration: Work closely with architects, construction teams, and other stakeholders to coordinate project requirements, address design challenges, and resolve technical issues.
6. Site Inspections: Conduct site visits to inspect construction progress, assess structural integrity, and provide technical guidance to construction teams, ensuring compliance with design specifications.
7. Documentation: Prepare technical reports, drawings, and documentation to communicate design concepts, specifications, and recommendations to clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
8. Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in civil engineering and structural design, contributing to the continuous improvement of processes and methodologies.
Skills and Experience
1. Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
2. Professional Engineering (PE) license or Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.
3. Proven experience in structural design, analysis, and project management.
4. Proficiency in structural engineering software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SAP2000, ETABS, etc.
5. Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
6. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
7. Knowledge of relevant building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
