We currently have the following opportunity: Commercial Waste Assistant (Fixed Term until 31 March 2026) - PKC12403 £26,766 - £29,131 Pullar House, Perth This is an exciting opportunity to join our Zero Waste (strategy) team as a Commercial Assistant, a supporting role that plays a key part in helping us contribute to our statutory waste diversion and recycling obligations set by the Scottish Government/UK Government. This role will help and contribute to the smooth running and continued development of waste & recycling services to householders and businesses. Your focus will be within the Commercial Waste Team, supporting Officers proactively bringing in new customers and carrying out day-to-day contract management of existing customers. You may also be required to assist with other aspects of the Zero Waste team, including domestic collections and administrative duties. You will help ensure we have an efficient and effective collection of waste and recycling from approximately 1700 customers. Working closely with others in the Zero Waste Team and our in-house Operations Team you will help shape services, problem solve and assist customers to set up waste collections in line with current and/or upcoming legislation. You will also have responsibility for permits at Household Waste & Recycling Centres as well as wheeled bin & skip collection services for businesses. Other elements will include strategy and development of income streams and services. This role involves dealing with customers, stakeholder and Political enquiries as well as an element of project and development work. Some of the work will require forging close links with communities and individuals to ensure that the use of recycling services available are maximised. Skills & Experience Required We are looking for a team player who is an experienced administrator, who can communicate effectively to all stakeholders such as customers, Operations, Politicians, Planners and others in the Waste Industry. Essential Requirements Proven skills and experience in dealing with the public, in often challenging situations. Proven project delivery and management. Excellent ICT skills and knowledge. Ability to use own initiative and problem solve. You must have a valid UK driving licence as this post requires you to travel to a variety of locations across Perth and Kinross. Strong administrative skills. Desirable Requirements A good understanding of PKC / Local Government. An understanding and knowledge of relevant legislation such as The Environmental Protection Act, Circular Economy (Scotland ) Bill & Waste (Scotland) Regulations. Experience of sales The individual hired will: Have the ability to work in a fast paced environment, switch to different tasks easily and cope with multiple projects or cases at any given time. Be able to work accurately with detailed information. Be able to work on their own or as part of a team, both in communities, at home, office or operational depots.
