We have an exciting opportunity for an Early Engagement Client Partner to support our continued growth to build a future skills pipeline of talent into the business. In this hands-on role, your challenge will be to inspire young people, particularly those from under-represented groups to ensure Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths (STEM) careers is seen as a viable career choice for younger people. You will take ownership in the planning and delivery of our national STEM programmes, from work experience, school education programmes, events, campaigns and digital offerings.
About the role (External)
This role sits in the Capability and Skills Development team, that forms part of our central Human Resources team. Our aim is “Providing a focus on the future to partner, influence and educate the business and wider industry, to forecast and close the skills gap in rail.” We provide Strategic HR expertise and advice in the areas of early careers schools engagement, skills, strategic workforce planning and employee development. Who are we looking for? This role is ideal for someone passionate about early careers development and has experience of delivering outreach initiatives around early careers schools’ engagement. You should demonstrate knowledge of safeguarding, working with young people, volunteer recruitment, planning and delivering events and education programmes. We are looking for someone who is organised and possess a creative approach to problem solving and initiating improvements. A significant part of the role is to engage with a variety of stakeholders internally and externally, who support the delivery of our early career programmes. This is a vital role for Network Rail to support our continued growth and will be instrumental in helping us deliver successful outcomes and to build our diverse pipeline of talent into the business. This is a varied and exciting role and will involve travel to different events and offices and will require overnight stays. What Does an Average Day Look Like? No day is the same! You will be planning and delivering a wide range of early careers outreach initiatives, each day will require you to manage a wide range of tasks from event logistics, recruiting volunteers, creating lesson plans, writing copy to promote the events to a wide range of stakeholders, attending careers fairs or delivering STEM sessions in our STEM Lab in Milton Keynes or one of our regional offices. A significant part of your day will be supporting colleagues, from advice about organising work experience placements, safeguarding, supporting colleagues in the regions to equip them with the resources and knowledge to deliver outreach in schools. If we are running an event, then you could be delivering a STEM activity or talking to young people at a careers fair or attending one of many events where we exhibit like the Big Bang Fair which attracts thousands of young people, or hosting young people in our offices on work experience or attending an insight day. You will be inspiring young people to come and join the rail industry, promoting our exciting hidden roles in rail or routes into the industry through placements, apprenticeship and graduate schemes or an entry level role. 1. Knowledge of early engagement, Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths (STEM) interventions, the target audience and stakeholders
2. Strong project management skills demonstrating evidence of planning and delivery of a wide range of STEM school programmes and events.
3. Knowledge of developing and adapting age-appropriate STEM lesson plans and curricula for various age groups, ensuring alignment with educational standards.
4. Experience working with education partners to create hands-on learning, interactive and exciting learning experiences. Experience of implementing best practice resourcing solutions to drive a value-added service.
5. Proven ability to identify and develop effective working partnerships and gain buy in from external partners.
6. Proven experience of working with business areas to identify, develop and implement appropriate resourcing solutions to meet their talent requirements.
7. Evidence of transitioning new projects into business as usual.
8. Experience of building engagement and capability with internal stakeholders. Ability to develop, high quality, trust-based relationships, and work collaboratively, internally & externally with colleagues, and clients.
9. Experience of working collaboratively across a resourcing environment with a good working knowledge of resourcing policies, processes and systems.
