We are seeking a skilled Capital Accountant on a 12 months fixed term contract to play a key role in managing and optimising our capital expenditure. In this role, you will ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance, delivering precise monthly Capex reports aligned with internal policies and accounting standards. You will lead budgeting, forecasting, and spend control, overseeing the annual Capex budget and monitoring project costs to meet financial targets. Additionally, you will drive process improvements and automation, streamlining reporting and implementing efficiency-enhancing initiatives. Key Responsibilities:
1. Month-End Capital Expenditure Reporting: You will take charge of preparing the monthly Capex reporting suite in collaboration with our Finance Business Partners. This includes ensuring that the reports are both accurate and relevant to the needs of various business areas.
2. Capex Spend Control & Compliance: As a key player in maintaining rigorous controls over capital expenditure, you will be responsible for ensuring that all Capex spending adheres to strict accounting standards and internal policies.
3. Budgeting & Forecasting: You will take the lead in preparing the annual capital expenditure budget and contribute to mid-year reforecasts. This involves working closely with other teams to gather data, assess project needs, and forecast future spending.
4. Collaboration & Process Improvement: Reporting into the FP&A & Transformation lead, you will play an active role in identifying areas where processes can be streamlined or enhanced. Whether it's refining reporting procedures or improving project tracking, your input will drive process efficiency and help the business operate more smoothly.
5. Automation of Reporting & Tracking: A key part of this role will be your focus on innovation. As key processes are defined, you will lead initiatives to automate various aspects of Capex reporting and tracking.
6. Monitoring & Reporting on Capex Spend: You will be responsible for monitoring capital spend against the budget for individual projects and business areas. This will involve regular tracking and reporting, ensuring that financial targets are met, and providing insights for better decision-making.
7. Stakeholder Engagement & Support: You will work closely with various stakeholders across the business, including project managers, department heads, and senior leadership.
Location:
This role is based in Nuneaton, and may be occasionally required to travel to our London Hub or to any other location of H&B. We support flexibility and productivity of our employees by hybrid working arrangements with minimum 2 days presence in the office.
The Person:
Key Requirements:
1. Professional Qualifications: You will be part-qualified or newly qualified in a recognized accounting qualification (CIMA, ACCA, ACA), with a strong commitment to completing your professional qualification.
2. Advanced Microsoft Excel Skills: Advanced Excel skills are essential for this role, as you'll be working with complex financial data and reporting. You should be comfortable with data analysis, creating complex formulas, and managing large datasets.
3. Microsoft Office / ERP Proficiency: Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint) will be advantageous. Experience with Unit 4 ERP or similar systems would be a definite advantage.
4. Strategic & Commercial Mindset: A keen commercial mindset and a passion for adding value to our business operations.
5. Ability to Handle Pressure & Change: This role requires someone who thrives in a high-pressure environment and can adapt to an ever-evolving workplace. Your ability to maintain focus and perform effectively under tight deadlines is crucial.
6. Multitasking & Independence: Demonstrate strong organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple deliverables simultaneously. Working independently and managing your workload efficiently to meet deadlines is key to success in this role.
7. Relevant Experience: Prior experience in assisting with management accounts or Capex within a complex, fast-paced organization.
