Role Summary & Purpose Our Trade Sales Counter Person is the first point of contact at the counters in our depots. They assist our customers while selling and upselling the company’s range of products and services and provide excellent customer services and have extensive knowledge of Howdens products. Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities • To provide excellent levels of customer service and deal with enquires in a courteous, professional and knowledgeable way. • To achieve and exceed individual targets to accomplish the depot targets, while building strong relationships with new and existing customers. • To effectively communicate and sell/upsell the full range of products and services offered by the company (face to face and via telephone). • To generate and chase leads. • To correctly process sales for customers using the in store payment systems, quoting correct pricing, delivery date and stock requirements. Ensuring all documents are filed correctly. • To assist in the depot warehouse as and when necessary. • To ensure a safe and comfortable environment is maintained for customers and employees within the Depot and to ensure 100 % compliance with Health & Safety Regulations and expectations This is not intended to be an exhaustive list of responsibilities, but outlines the main points of the role. Key Performance Indicators • Positive customer feedback and progress through 1-2-1 reviews. • Clear communication skills, with customers when interacting face to face and over the telephone. • Negotiate with customers in order to upsell and supply products at the best price possible to both Howdens and the customer. Key Challenges • To continually develop on your product knowledge and tailoring your approach to each customer in order to deliver the best service possible. • To actively manage your account base, lead bank and account recruitment with the aim of exceeding company targets. • Organise and prioritise own work load, ensuring that customers are greeted and served in a timely manner. About You • Experience of working in either a retail or similar customer service environment. • The ability to be flexible in your approach from day-to-day workload and multi-tasking different workloads. • Able to communicate in a pleasant, friendly manner and clearly articulate Howdens Joinery products to the trade and public. • You will have effective team work and problem solving skills. As part of the wider sales team, you will contribute to generating and following up on leads, helping to drive sales growth. you will process sales for customers, ensuring accurate pricing, delivery dates, and stock requirements. Your effective customer account management skills will aim to expand our customer base and develop long-term collaborative relationships with our trade customers. Maintaining up-to-date product and industry knowledge will be a priority, allowing you to provide informed recommendations and assistance to our valued customers.
