This is an exciting opportunity to join our Marine Claims team as a Claims Adjuster, where you will manage and resolve claims within our portfolio of Hull, Cargo, and Liability claims for our customers across the globe.
Essential Responsibilities:
1. Receiving claims notifications, assessing estimates, and negotiating claims up to and including settlement within personal authority.
2. Instructing and controlling surveyors, loss adjusters, solicitors, and experts in connection with day-to-day claims handling.
3. Ensuring collaboration with Assistant Managers and Practice leaders for consistent claims handling.
4. Effective diary management of all claims and managing static and inactive claims as required.
5. Supporting underwriting teams and partners in connection with claim trends and business development activities.
6. Liaising with Enterprise Shared Services to maintain high customer service levels.
7. Working with Management and Claims Legal to manage litigation strategy on claims.
8. Assisting the Marine team in key initiatives within the product line.
9. Providing superior customer service to policyholders and brokers and identifying areas for improvement.
You will report to the Assistant Claims Manager, Marine.
Required Skills and Abilities:
1. Effective communicator with excellent organizational skills.
2. Innovative mindset – ability to find successful solutions.
3. Good numerical and literacy skills (Minimum GCSE passes in Mathematics and English).
4. Good PC and systems skills (relevant AXA XL systems, MS Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
5. Some experience of Marine insurance lines and knowledge of Marine Insurance is highly beneficial.
6. Basic understanding of the principles of insurance, preferably from a claims background.
Desired Skills and Abilities:
1. ACII desired but not essential.
2. Working knowledge of Lloyd’s minimum standards, regulations, and the subscription market.
