Join our Solutions team as a Building Control Surveyor, where you'll deliver quality, customer-focused building control services for a range of projects, including major developments at Heathrow. You'll manage technical compliance with building regulations, and support quality management initiatives. Key responsibilities include assessing project compliance, stakeholder communication, and supporting team members.
Your role will involve
Providing building control service for a range of projects or work packages of any size in complex environments, including elements of major developments.
Communicating effectively and regularly with key stakeholders within and outside of Heathrow to ensure projects are delivered in compliance with building regulations and the building control role is developed.
Assessing levels of compliance of relevant projects being handed to the operation on Building Regulations Health and Safety matters, and permit or refuse the handover as appropriate.
Operating in accordance with any RBCA and RBI licence obligations.
Ensuring that building control activities meet prescribed performance standards and complying with internal ISO 9001 Quality Management processes and systems; provide regular progress reports to the Senior BC Surveyors and/or Head of Building Control and ensure that corrective actions are taken where appropriate.
Providing mentoring and support to less experienced members of the building control team.
These skills are essential
* Deep knowledge of building regulations, health and safety standards, and compliance, especially for complex environments and major developments.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills to engage effectively with both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring clear updates and alignment on compliance standards.
* Must hold a current licence as a Registered Building Inspector at Class 3G or 3H level (Class 2F considered).
* Must hold a degree in building control or related construction discipline.
* Must be a full member of a relevant professional institution (such as RICS, CABE, CIOB or CIBSE).
Ideally you will also have:
* Experience of building control in multi-tenanted commercial buildings, including fire engineered solutions.
* Experience of Quality Management Systems and Quality Improvement.
Working Location
Our Hybrid working approach offers the opportunity for colleagues in some roles to work from home for an average of two days a week, providing the flexibility to work in an agile way whilst ensuring we deliver for the operational needs of Heathrow. Working arrangements vary from team to team and will be confirmed during the recruitment process. You’ll need to be based in the UK and within a commutable distance to Heathrow.
