A family-owned food manufacturer with over 140 years of history in producing high-quality food products are looking for an Assistant Technical Manager to work on-site at their factory in Kent. This is a newly created role within the Technical Team. As an Assistant Technical Manager, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Technical Manager and working closely with the Production Team. This role is ideal for someone passionate about food safety, quality systems, and continuous improvement in the food industry.
Key Responsibilities:
* Deputise for the Technical Manager, stepping in as required, including leadership in incident/crisis management during their absence.
* Support the continuous improvement of food safety and quality systems to meet customer and third-party audit standards.
* Assist in the development, implementation, and review of Quality and Food Safety policies.
* Conduct customer standards/code of practice gap analysis.
* Ensure internal standards align with customer requirements and food legislation.
* Oversee and maintain Risk Assessments.
* Check and approve artwork for product labels.
* Plan and carry out process audits to verify output.
* Contribute to customer and third-party audits, ensuring compliance with quality management procedures related to food safety.
* Perform internal system audits, resolving non-conformances.
Person Profile:
* A degree in a food-related subject.
* Previous experience within the food manufacturing industry, ideally within a technical team.
* Strong experience in managing BRCGS and multiple retailer standards.
* Knowledge and experience in food safety, food defence, and quality systems.
* Excellent attention to detail and the ability to drive continuous improvement.
* A Food Hygiene Certificate
