Job Description
We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a Java Developer to join our team on a permanent basis, The successful candidate will work in a cross functional team responsible for designing, crafting and supporting new technical products and services to support our business and its ambitious digital transformation.
This is a great opportunity to work on greenfield products and become a pivotal part of our future; it will be a pure backend position. Experience with Java (ideally 17), Spring Boot, Microservices and Kafka is needed for this role.
The day to day:
1. Become a Integral member of a high-performing Agile team, contributing to the shaping and development of esure's future.
2. Design and construct digital and technical products.
3. Collaborate within a team to set the technical direction for supported products.
4. Engage in greenfield development, constructing internal and external APIs from the ground up.
5. Establish a robust automated test suite for seamless integration into a continuous deployment environment.
6. Provide 2nd line support for applications and platforms, occasionally beyond regular office hours.
7. Actively drive the enterprise Agile and transformation journey.
8. Identify and address areas for technical product improvement and tackle opportunities for reducing technical debt.
9. Challenge existing processes to improve departmental efficiency and ways of working.
Qualifications
We would love you to bring!
10. Developer experience in scaled Agile, with delivery partners and 3rd party applications
11. Strong technical expertise in Java, Sprint Boot and Microservices.
12. Proficient in Spring Boot; Apache Kafka experience is desirable
13. Expertise in microservices, database programming, event streaming, and queueing technologies in a cloud-based environment
14. Effective communication of technical concepts to non-technical audiences
15. Worked on technical projects within cross-functional teams
16. Knowledge and practice of code quality techniques like continuous integration, unit testing, and peer reviews
17. Rapid research and adaptation to new programming tools and techniques
18. Experience in building and scaling high-traffic websites or mission-critical line-of-business systems
19. Automated integration and acceptance testing experience, preferably with a BDD framework
