We are offering an exciting opportunity for an Occupational Therapist who is passionate about working with children and young people with disabilities. This 12-month position is based within our community therapy team at Ryegate Children's Centre, where you will work with a team of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and therapy assistants. You will be part of a team with a wealth of experience to share and help you grow in your career.
About You: We are looking for someone who loves working with children and is enthusiastic about helping them achieve their goals. You will be keen to learn and develop your skills as an occupational therapist. You must be registered with the HCPC and have a Diploma or Degree in Occupational Therapy, along with experience working with children.

Main duties of the job
Reporting to the Community Team Leader, your responsibilities will include:
1. Provide high-quality occupational therapy care within the community therapy team alongside physiotherapists and multi-professional teams.
2. Conduct routine occupational therapy assessments for children and young people with a range of conditions in schools and family homes.
3. Provide a diagnosis related to occupational therapy and develop individual treatment plans.
4. Manage a delegated caseload, working under supervision while continuing to develop your skills.
5. Undertake all clinical responsibilities as a developing autonomous practitioner, seeking advice, training, and support from senior colleagues and team members.

Person Specification
Qualifications and Training
* HCPC registration.
* Diploma / Degree in Occupational Therapy.
* Portfolio evidence of reflective practice.
* An undergraduate case study, essay or dissertation on a paediatric topic.
* Good overall clinical record/profile.
* Membership of the RCOT.
Experience
* Experience of team working.
* Undergraduate clinical placements in paediatrics.
* Experience of working with children, either professionally or socially.
* Evidence of extra responsibilities taken at undergraduate level, involvement in audit, research or service evaluation.
* Experience of working in special education.
* Experience of working in paediatrics.
Knowledge
* Understanding of the legal responsibilities of the profession, knowledge of clinical governance and its implications for services.
* Awareness of own limitations.
* Understanding of family/team dynamics and how to develop working relationships with all involved in the child's care.
* Understanding of data protection, confidentiality and health and safety requirements in meeting the needs of the child and family.
* Understanding of the impact of disability on children and their families.
* Knowledge of consent issues specific to paediatrics.

* Knowledge of current NHS issues.
