THE ROLE
The successful candidate will be assigned a clinical supervisor and will receive experience in Acute General Medicine during a two-year period. Candidates may also have the opportunity to engage in rotations in Geriatric Medicine, Ambulatory care, and Intensive care at the John Radcliffe Hospital.
The appointee will be expected to undertake audit and quality improvement projects, as well as to attend clinical governance meetings, mortality and morbidity meetings, and regional and national educational meetings. Research activity is encouraged. The close links with the University of Oxford and Oxford Brookes University will further enhance research engagement.
The appointee will actively participate in the local educational programme of teaching undergraduates as well as postgraduates.
The post-holder will join a group of residents and consultants who lead one of the eight Medical Firms, all of which are well staffed with a core team of 3 residents at any one time. The resident rotas support 7-day working including Bank Holidays.
This is an exciting time to join AGM and Ambulatory Care Medicine at OUHFT and become part of a medical workforce with a reputation for excellence. We are seeking enthusiastic colleagues who are skilled in the delivery of acute medical care and the interface with the Emergency Department and other hospital specialties.
Clinical: The appointee will be responsible, together with other residents, for both inpatient and outpatient work.
Administration Duties: These include responsibility for inpatient discharge summaries, outpatient letters, and the management of other resident staff on the team.
Sample Timetable: The weekly duties for a resident vary depending on the week of the rota cycle.
