Dermatology Specialist Nurse - Biologics & Drug Monitoring
We are looking to expand our nursing team for Dermatology services and an exciting opportunity has arisen for the newly created role of Dermatology Specialist Nurse for Biologics & Drug Monitoring.
The successful candidate will provide specialist dermatology advice to support the assessment, planning and implementation of patient care, and where appropriate deliver programmes of care and education to patients with inflammatory skin disease who are being treated with topical, systemic and biologic therapies.
Dermatology is a very busy specialty, providing care to around 550 adult and paediatric patients per week, working alongside experienced colleagues across multi-disciplinary teams with the goal to provide the best care for our patients.

The service is located within the centre of the hospital site in a dedicated department where we offer a range of clinics led by both consultants and specialist nurses.
Main duties of the job
For this challenging role, a specialist interest in and knowledge of dermatology is required. You will have clinical experience working in a dermatology setting at Band 5 level.
You will be working in conjunction with an established team of nurses and the rest of the dermatology team. The emphasis will be very much on supporting the screening and monitoring of patients on topical treatments and disease modifying medication, including systemic and biological therapies, under the guidance of the nurse consultant and consultant dermatologists.
You will be responsible for screening, providing education, advice and follow up to support and empower patients to manage their own conditions effectively, thereby improving quality of life.
You will be a highly motivated, self-managing nurse, with the drive and enthusiasm to continue to develop the dermatology nursing service, coaching and supporting junior team members and students.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* First degree in nursing or an equivalent portfolio of evidence
* Current NMC Registration
* First level registered nurse
* Non-medical prescriber
Knowledge, training and experience
* Evidence of professional/clinical knowledge in dermatology supplemented by specialist clinical, managerial training and CPD
* Evidence of autonomous working
* Experience of mentorship
* Experience caring for patients with inflammatory skin disease (eczema, psoriasis, acne, hidradenitis suppurativa)
Skills and abilities
* Substantial post registration plus notable experience within specialty
* Evidence of proactive involvement in the mentorship and development of nurses and nursing practice
* Effective communicator able to communicate complex and sensitive information
* Evidence of relevant involvement in meeting the Trust clinical governance objectives
* Evidence of influencing change
