About the Role and our Ideal Candidate
We are seeking a Business Support Officer to join our Mental Health Team within Sutton’s Adult Social Care service, on a 12 month fixed term contract. Our goal is to empower adults to live as independently as possible, and we are looking for a social care professional with the necessary skills to help us achieve this mission.
In this role, you will be supporting a joint initiative between the South West London and St George's Mental Health Trust and Sutton Council, to review all those people who are subject to Section 117 of the Mental Health Act 83. By completing reviews together, we can ensure that people are receiving the correct support to help them lead meaningful and active lives. Your duties in this role will include:
Planning and co-ordination of reviews
Tracking and reporting of reviews and their outcomes
Data Management - collaborate with the reviewing team to ensure that all data related to assessments, care plans, and reviews are maintained to ensure compliance with the regulatory standards
Act as the liaison between the Reviewing Team and other departments to encourage collaboration and coordination
Working with external partners to coordinate support services and resources for our service users
Your role helps to promote the wellbeing and recovery of individuals in adult social care. As a Business Support Officer, you will support to ensure that the Reviewing team works well and effectively. By keeping accurate data, helping with planning, tracking reviews, and connecting with others involved, you play a key part in improving the quality of care that people receive. Your efforts to ensure quality and encourage improvements will help not just the reviewing process, but also the overall mental health support available in the community.
The successful candidate will have:
Proven experience in a business support role, preferably within the health, social care, or mental health sectors.
Relevant experience of working with people/families/carers, with care and support needs. We will be keen to receive applications from people with lived experience.
Knowledge of relevant legislation and policies in social care such as Care Act 2014 and Mental Capacity Act 2005.
Have sound knowledge and ability to deliver social work support to service users and their families.
Ability to communicate effectively with a range of different people.
Ability to follow the occupational therapy plan and work with people in a practical way to gain the skill needed.

The Mental Health Team
Sutton is strengthening its approach to supporting people with significant and complex mental health needs with the establishment of a dedicated Mental Health Team.This post will contribute to this strengthened approach based alongside our AMHPs and mental health social workers. In addition to direct work with people experiencing substance misuse challenges, the role will provide advice and support to workers across all of Adult Social Care services, including our Hospital, Localities and Transitions teams.
