Modern Apprenticeships in Early Learning and Childcare are now available with Shetland Islands Council.
Are you looking to start a career in Early Learning and Childcare?
Children’s Services are recruiting for Modern Apprentices to join existing Early Learning and Childcare teams in selected settings across Shetland. The Modern Apprentices will learn how to work effectively as a member of an Early Learning and Childcare team to support in the delivery of a high quality, safe and balanced education and care service which meets the needs of each young child and their families, in accordance with relevant legislation and guidelines.
* Successful applicants will be supported to complete a Scottish Vocational Qualification (SCFQ Level 7) Social Services: Children and Young People to allow registration as a care professional with the Scottish Social Service Council.
* Modern Apprentices will work 35 hours per week during term-time.

* The grade of this post is SLGLW / AB
* Rate of pay shown in the advert is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance of £1.4808 per hour
* Apprenticeship Part Time post for 35.0 Hours per Week, 39 weeks per year, plus 6.24 weeks (pro rata) paid holiday to be taken during school holidays.
* The modern apprenticeship will last 2 years.
* Preferred candidates will be required to join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made
* The successful candidate will have to complete registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) when they begin in post
* This vacancy does not meet Home Office rules for UK visa sponsorship. Please only apply if you do not require UK visa sponsorship.
* A relocation package does not apply to this post
* We will pay interview expenses from within Shetland
* You must have the ability to travel throughout Shetland at short notice and where public transport is limited
