We are a busy GP Practice of medium size based in Moreton on the Wirral. We have a list size of 13,265 patients.
We have a well established team which we are looking to enhance further. The position is for a 27 hour per week post.
The successful applicant must be flexible, be able to work under pressure and enjoy working within a team. A good standard of education and previous experience of working in a GP surgery or in a customer facing role would be advantageous.
Duties can include but are not limited to, greeting and directing patients, effective use of the appointment system, booking appointments, processing of information and assisting patients as required. Answering the telephone to patients and outside agencies.
To act as the central point of contact for patients, the distribution of information, messages and enquiries for the clinical team, liaising with multidisciplinary team members and external agencies such as secondary care and community services.
Filing correspondence from secondary care onto patients records. Updating patient records. Referring patients to secondary services. Issuing repeat prescriptions and other admin tasks.
Main duties of the job
1. Answering telephone calls and dealing with face to face enquiries.
2. Greeting patients and visitors.
3. Explaining the practice procedures to new patients.
4. Dealing with all requests in an efficient and courteous manner.
5. Arranging any necessary follow up appointments for patients.
6. Scheduling appointments on the phone and face-to-face.
7. Screening enquiries for the doctors and medical staff.
8. Updating the surgeries computer system with appointments and personal details.
9. Maintaining a clean reception area and patient areas.
10. Accurately collecting, updating and maintaining personal details about patients.
11. Signposting patients to the correct service.
12. Supporting all clinical staff with general tasks as requested.
About us
Moreton Group Practice has a clinical team consisting of GPs, three ANP's, five practice nurses and three HCA's. They are supported by a large admin team comprising of Medical Secretaries, Medicines Managers and Administrators.
We also run a complex dressing clinic which helps serve patients with complex dressing needs across the Wirral area.
We are a friendly team passionate about providing excellence in care to our patients. We are based over two sites and the role will require working over both. The sites are both within walking distance of each other.
We were rated "Good" at our last CQC inspection. We are high achievers in QOF and other enhanced services.
Moreton Group Practice is also attached to Moreton and Meols PCN who provide additional health professional roles, for instance pharmacists, physiotherapists, paramedics, health & well being coaches and more to our team.
Job responsibilities
The role is a key position, being the first point of call to all patients and visitors. You will be working as part of a medium sized team ensuring that the Care Navigation Team runs smoothly. You will be supported by an Office manager.

* Have the ability to adapt and manage workload dependent on the priority level.
* Answering all incoming calls from patients on a daily basis.
* Dealing with any requests from patients face to face.
* Issuing prescriptions.
* Possess excellent communication skills, both spoken and written.
* Have a good understanding of Microsoft office, to include Word.
* Have the ability to maintain confidentiality and data security.
* Possess some experience within a medical or NHS environment (not essential).
