Graphic or Product/Industrial Design Intern - Summer 2025
About Innovia
Innovia Technology has an exciting opportunity for an undergraduate or graduate student with a background in Graphic or Product/Industrial Design to join our 10-12 week paid Summer Internship programme 2025 to apply their skills to innovation consultancy and work on varied and creative projects alongside engineers, designers, physicists, life scientists, chemists, business strategists, and behavioural scientists at our Cambridge UK offices.
Innovia Technology specialises in ‘front end innovation’ - which means we create and work on the very start of breakthrough ideas and discoveries. For 3 months, you’ll join our holistic project teams who are collaborating to solve multifaceted challenges or invent something new for our clients who are global industry leaders in their fields.
What you’ll get
Working closely with other specialists whose background may be in organic chemistry, public health, theoretical physics, chemical engineering or veterinary medicine, you'll get an opportunity to greatly expand your thinking, gain insights into various specialisms and see how they interconnect in a holistic project setting. We'll offer you training to make it easier to bridge the gap between studying and working as a Summer Intern.
Key Activities
As a Summer Intern, you will spend most of your time working on innovation challenges faced by our clients. You’ll typically work on 2-3 projects at once, and the nature of these projects can be remarkably varied, but here is a list of key activities you will likely be performing:
1. Bringing design thinking and creativity to innovation challenges.
2. Collaborating closely with colleagues from different fields to solve broad and complex problems.
3. Challenging conventional thinking and industry-specific assumptions.
4. Creating new ideas and insights, translating these into new ideas and solutions for clients in a wide range of industries.
5. Using your skills to communicate ideas, concepts, and create a narrative that inspires and informs clients.
6. Bringing ideas to life through data visualisation, infographic design, rapid concept mock-ups, Photoshop, graphical illustration, CAD, modelling and prototyping.
7. Supporting Innovia’s sales and marketing teams by designing engaging graphical media for print and digital platforms.

* Have a structured design process which shows how you think about problems and iterate ideas.
* Excel in the Adobe suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign).
