We are looking for candidates to join the Commissioning Team at RWE to develop their skills and train to become High Voltage (HV) Senior Authorised Persons (SAPs) working at voltages up to 400kV on large scale offshore windfarms.
Ultimately, you will be responsible for implementing the company safety rules to control the HV network and operate the power network to provide safe conditions to put people to work during the Construction of Offshore Windfarms. The role requires the skill to witness and undertake testing of plant and check conformance of contractors work to ensure that the commissioning of plant is fully delivered by the contractor, and to efficiently resolve the complex problems that can occur in a progressive, time critical operation whilst ensuring that safety is the number one priority.
You will initially be based offshore on the Service Operations Vessel working a 3 week on 3 week off rota, working with an experienced commissioning team relating to the day to day on-site commissioning of WTG and the associated power network.
We offer training to upskill technical knowledge of Power Systems, and operational experience necessary to become authorised as a SAP. Thereafter, you will get involved in the construction, commissioning and operation across the extensive pipeline of projects.
About the role
* Assist with commissioning and operational activities during windfarm construction
* Actively promote a positive safety culture
* Develop an understanding of and implement company safety rules and local management procedures
* Develop the necessary skills & knowledge to coordinate the HV network operation and coordinate activities across site
* Maximise plant availability and asset integrity
* Understand complex power networks and provide effective fault diagnosis and manage remediation
* Liaise with operational stakeholders e.g. Control Room, site management and National Grid/OFTO
Job Requirements
* Qualified to HNC/degree level in an engineering discipline or equivalent
* The ability to work constructively and positively with good communication skills
* Ideally have experience working in offshore wind or similar industry - working at height and at sea is obviously a central part of the job
* Experience of test compliance would be advantageous
* Good knowledge of current Health, Safety and Environmental regulations through having IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent qualification with a good understanding of Risk Assessment and Method Statement preparation and approval
* Awareness of HV Systems and Safety Rules, previous experience as a AP/Electrical duty holder/Authorised Technician is desirable
* Physical ability to complete GWO and HUET training
* IT literate with experience using CMMS, Microsoft suite, Adobe, etc
