We are seeking a dedicated and experienced ASD Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team at a secondary school in London, UB6. This is an excellent opportunity for a compassionate professional who is passionate about making a significant impact on the lives of students with ASD.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide tailored support to secondary school students with ASD, ensuring that they can access the curriculum and participate fully in classroom activities.
2. Work collaboratively with the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO), teachers, and other support staff to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
3. Employ a range of strategies, including visual aids, technology, and sensory integration techniques, to facilitate communication and learning.
4. Assist with daily tasks and routines, helping students to develop independence and life skills.
5. Monitor and record students’ progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents/guardians.
6. Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment, promoting positive behavior and social interaction among all students.
7. Attend and contribute to meetings and professional development sessions to further knowledge of ASD and best practices in SEN education.
8. Be flexible and responsive to the changing needs of students and the school environment.
Essential Requirements:
1. A minimum of one year experience working as an ASD Teaching Assistant or a similar role.
2. A firm understanding of the challenges faced by students with ASD and a strong commitment to their educational development.
3. Proven ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with students, staff, and parents.
