I am working with a market leader in the Energy sector, as they are seeking a highly skilled Senior Quantitative Analyst with expertise in energy markets, particularly in oil, products, and biofuels.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in market risk processes, trade control, and the full lifecycle of trading deals. You will work closely with Market Risk, Trade Control, IT, and other risk teams to optimize daily processes, drive automation, and support data-driven risk analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
Middle Office, Risk, and Data Management Optimization:
* Lead projects to enhance the performance of Middle Office functions, including Market Risk and Trade Control.
* Oversee analysis of physical and financial positions, ensuring alignment with the firm’s risk framework.
* Drive automation of risk management processes using cloud data management tools.
Scenario & Stress Testing:
* Conduct stress testing and scenario analysis on both aggregated and strategy-specific levels.
* Apply data transformation techniques to prepare data for risk metrics and performance analysis.
Cross-functional IT & Risk Data Projects:
* Lead data-related projects within the Market Risk team, improving management information systems and data architecture.
* Collaborate with IT to enhance Risk reporting activities within the Energy Trading Risk Management (ETRM) system.
Risk Reporting & Cloud Data Architecture:
* Prepare and review daily P&L and risk reports, integrating cloud data solutions for efficient reporting.
* Maintain a thorough understanding of key risk metrics and implement data-driven improvements.
Candidate Specifications:
* Educational Background: University degree in a numerate discipline (e.g., computing, economics, mathematics, finance, engineering).
* Technical Skills: Proficiency in Python, VBA, SQL; experience with cloud data platforms (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud), Databricks, Power BI, and Power Automate.
* Risk Expertise: Solid understanding of market risk metrics and product control.
