We’re looking for a talented and forward-thinking Systems Architect & Engineer to play a key role in delivering cutting-edge digital solutions that support our evolving business needs, including our transformative bus franchising programme. This role will work closely alongside our other Systems Architect & Engineer, contributing to the broader objectives of the DTS team whilst leading and contributing to agile, collaborative, and multidisciplinary projects. You will be instrumental in designing future-proof systems and infrastructure, working closely with the Development Services Manager, Business Analyst, Project Manager, ICT Service Delivery Manager, and wider business stakeholders. As Systems Architect & Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and architecting our network infrastructure, including LAN and WAN, cloud services, and all on-premises ICT systems. You will play a central part in developing robust, scalable, and forward-thinking solutions that support both our current operations and long-term strategic goals. Your work will directly contribute to the success of critical initiatives and help enhance the organisation’s overall digital capabilities. The Role Reporting into the DTS Programme Manager, your key responsibilities will include: Develop expert technical designs for new and modified technology solutions, providing comprehensive specifications detailing necessary changes across networks, hardware, databases, middleware, and security. Lead the design process for new or updated solutions, collaborating closely with software developers to guide projects from initial concept through to implementation readiness and handover to Live Services. Serve as a senior subject matter expert across a wide array of emerging technologies, consistently updating knowledge and skills to stay aligned with evolving corporate computing trends and innovations. About You You will have the following key skills, attributes, education and experience: Deep technical architecture knowledge with an ability to integrate complex systems; with a clear understanding of the concepts of how interfaces work and ability to use them to manage the flow of data. Comprehensive experience of designing and supporting Microsoft Azure solutions, including networks, storage, security, backups, system troubleshooting and their lifecycle management. Previous experience of designing and developing on-premise infrastructure solutions. Ability to clarify requirements from, and present, visualise, interpret and summarise models to a wide range of stakeholders. Microsoft Azure Certification or relevant demonstrable experience in a similar role.
