Material Controller / Material Handling Specialist

We are seeking a professional and experienced material controller/specialist to join the management team of a growing precision manufacturer based in Coventry.
To assist in the management of the company quality processes to ensure paperwork and components are produced to company and customer specifications.
The role of material controller/specialist is critical to the ongoing success of the business plans for growth over the next 36 months.
This role is exciting and variable and will involve liaising daily with multiple departments and external suppliers to ensure standards are met and problems are solved on a timely basis.
Main Accountabilities of a Material Controller / Specialist:
1. Assist with the evaluation of potential material suppliers and undertake due process to ensure that the supplier has approved status on FM.
2. Use the RFQ system to source materials.
3. Thoroughly check proposals from suppliers against the material specs to ensure that none deviate from customer specification.
4. Where materials do vary from customer specification, ensure that due quality systems are used at all times to secure customer approval under production permit or concession.
5. Submit quotes to the Commercial Director in a timely fashion.
6. Secure stock materials only under the approval of the Commercial Director.
7. Oversee material stock; knowing the status and location of stock and incoming materials and supporting the stock logistics team to ensure that material is in the right place at the right time.
8. Have accountability for successful material stock audits.
9. When required, expedite outstanding purchase orders using the expedite tool on FM.
10. Monitor and assist with material movement on FM.
11. Manage material stores personnel.
12. Understand that the role requires a high expectation of commitment to the business in ensuring all roles and functions are completed, which may be extremely variable due to the nature of the business.
Candidate Requirements:
1. Previous experience within a manufacturing role in materials handling, control, quality, or operations.
2. Experience in securing supply chain function.
3. Knowledge and experience of ISO regulations.
4. Experience in sourcing stock and materials from various outlets.
5. Ability to manage budgets on jobs and campaigns.
6. Experience in managing the quality of products and making cost savings.
7. Effective communication skills at all levels.
8. Experience with quality systems and in-house stock control systems.
