We are delighted to be working on this full-time role with Scottish Water based around Biggar in Scotland.
Your new role
Collect and label samples of water, wastewater, and trade effluent within a geographical area and transport them to the laboratory, following instructions to ensure work is carried out in accordance with relevant quality standards and regulations. Sampling and Testing: Carry out routine sampling tasks such as preparing and testing samples of clean water, wastewater, and trade effluent, in accordance with defined processes and procedures to ensure work is carried out in accordance with relevant quality standards and with reference to governing regulations.
Duties will include:
* To be responsible for raw water sources (intakes and reservoirs) and Scottish Water private water supplies.
* To be responsible for the operation, surveillance, monitoring, and maintenance of these assets in an efficient manner to ensure compliance with reservoir safety legislation and environmental legislation within an allocated geographic area.
* Escalate identified reservoir safety issues to the Reservoir Engineer.
* Carry out routine installation tasks, following detailed instructions and working under close supervision to complete the allocated tasks.
* Equipment maintenance and repair.
* Carry out routine maintenance and repair tasks, following detailed instructions and adjusting straightforward settings to comply with performance and relevant quality standards.
* Follow a range of mandatory work instructions (including use of personal protection equipment where relevant) to safeguard the environment and the wellbeing of oneself and others.
* Escalate instances of non-compliance to more senior colleagues if required.
There is a big focus on health and safety. The standard? 100% compliance with the strictest standards - many of them set out in law.
What you'll need:
* Full driving licence - vehicle will be provided.
* Must be proactive with the ability to organise own work schedule each day in line with changing priorities.
* Must be able-bodied and prepared to be working outside at times as you visit reservoir sites.
* This role will suit a team player who is happy to adapt to the changing needs and use initiative to ensure responsibilities of themselves and also Scottish Water are met.
* Mature and responsible attitude, understanding the importance of procedures and checks being followed accurately.
Work Pattern
This is an ongoing full-time role and you'll be required to be on call on a rotational basis with plenty of advance notice given and enhanced pay.
Since this role will involve visiting various sites, you will not report to an office each day but be provided with a van and will begin your work day when you leave home in the morning.
