Project Engineer (Contract)

6-8 week project, commencing mid-February 2025
Great opportunity for a Project Engineer to take on a contract for a period of around 6 to 8 weeks commencing in February 2025. The project will encompass the Installation and Commissioning of a Production Line including Automatic Tray Handling systems, rotary moulders, mixers, dough elevators, and dough handling equipment.
The Project Engineer appointed will act as the link between the Customer (Food Manufacturer) and the Engineers contracted to Install and Commission the equipment.
As part of this CAPEX project the Project Engineer will:
1. Support the Installation and Commissioning Engineers;
2. Ensure the project is delivered on time, meeting cost, quality, safety, and customer satisfaction;
3. Quickly establish good working relationships with the Contract Installation and Commissioning Engineers;
4. Quickly gain credibility with the Customer, such as the Factory Manager, Engineering Manager, Health & Safety, or Operations;
5. Support the project team in the installation and commissioning of the plant and machinery;
6. Work in a consultative and engaging manner, ensuring adherence to the brief and timescale, and reporting progress to the Customer;
7. Flag and remedy any substandard performance at the Installation stage;
8. Verify work completed, control project documents, and provide technical support;
9. Ensure milestones are being met and the customer is satisfied with the standard of installation;
10. Monitor RAMS and Method Statements to ensure project tasks are completed safely;
11. Complete a post-completion review before project sign off.
The Person:
1. Experience of installation and commissioning of Food Manufacturing / Bakery capital equipment;
2. Good understanding of regulations and Health & Safety requirements in the context of a Food Manufacturing site;
3. High level of organisation to effectively plan and organise the information and resources needed to deliver the project;
4. Good understanding of Mechanical and Electrical elements;
5. Ability to work collaboratively and influence at all levels, quickly establishing credibility with all project stakeholders;
6. Existing Health & Safety / Food Safety systems & legislation knowledge to ensure a safe working environment.
Available from mid-February 2025 and able to spend 5 days a week (Mon-Fri) on site in East Cumbria.
