The Role
As a Senior Electromagnetic Signature Modelling and Simulation Engineer you will have the opportunity to make a tangible impact on the development of cutting-edge electromagnetic signature technologies, enhancing the stealth capabilities of naval vessels and contributing to the advancement of global maritime security.
Day-to-day, you’ll lead the development of innovative electromagnetic modelling techniques, analyse complex data sets and collaborate with a high-performing team of engineers and data analysts to deliver critical test and evaluation projects that shape the future of naval operations.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Being a senior technical subject matter expert, representing the company at customer meetings and stakeholder forums to drive innovation and collaboration
* Leading the development and improvement of electromagnetic modelling techniques to enhance the capabilities of naval platforms
* Analysing the performance characteristics of electromagnetic measurement systems to optimise their effectiveness
* Ensuring that all customer requirements are delivered according to specified quality, cost and time requirements, while working closely with project managers
* Strengthening international collaboration with academia and other disciplines within QinetiQ to foster new technologies and mutually beneficial partnerships
* Providing technical assurance activities and mentorship to team members to ensure high-quality project outcomes and continuous team development
Essential experience of the Senior Electromagnetic Signature Modelling and Simulation Engineer:
* Demonstratable technical leadership skills, indicating the ability to guide and manage technical projects effectively
* Deep knowledge and experience of mathematical modelling techniques which are crucial for developing and improving electromagnetic modelling
* A demonstrable aptitude for analytical work, including technical report writing and critical review of technical reports
* Strong skills in the use of scientific computing programs such as MATLAB, LabVIEW, C++, Python
Essential qualifications for the Senior Electromagnetic Signature Modelling and Simulation Engineer:
* Applicants must hold an undergraduate degree in engineering, maths, science or a related technical subject, accompanied by demonstrated strong technical leadership skills
