We currently have a vacancy for a Policy Coordinator to join our Rail Team within Transport Policy. In this role you will support colleagues to help improve the future of rail within West Yorkshire. Rail reform and further devolution will enable the mayor to deliver our rail strategy, and we need to push for further rail investment in our region, ensuring the industry delivers the rail capacity and services that meet our ambitions in our Local Growth Plan and Local Transport Plan, deliver an accessible rail network that fully integrates with a franchised bus network and our future mass transit system. This role will primarily focus on rail reform, but will provide opportunities to work in other areas including rail policy and operational matters. The Role Reporting into the Rail Development Officer, your key responsibilities will include: · Helping to support rail planning, delivery and/or strategic development, ensuring alignment with our corporate plans and policies. · Helping to deliver the Combined Authority’s Rail Strategy including infrastructure enhancements and rail operating performance to achieve the best outcomes for passengers. · Supporting senior officers in shaping and delivering rail reform as the mayor takes on more responsibility in governing, managing, planning and developing the local rail network to ensure is it the core of a fully integrated multi-modal network of public transport. About You You will have the following key skills, attributes, education and experience: · Strong analytical skills including data analysis, interpretation and fluency in communicating to a wide audience. · Experience of prioritising, planning and organising workloads, championing change and a commitment to Equity, Diversity and Inclusion. · Hold a degree in or relevant demonstrable practical experience in transport or economic policy, or practical experience of successfully performing in a similar role. · Any relevant experience in managing delivery of public transport services including operator and infrastructure performance, service planning and influencing operator business plans to deliver a better outcome.
