About the Role
Russell Taylor has an excellent opportunity for a Lead Battery Test Engineer to join our Global Testing organisation. This is an exciting opportunity to take the lead on this new division with plans to dramatically expand over the coming months. You will be the front runner of this team, so you must have experience in a lead/principal role within battery testing to be considered. Initially, the role will be based out of another site, but long term this role will be based in Bristol with a hybrid setup of 2-3 days from home - relocation allowance is offered with this role and there is flexibility around the working schedule.
Responsibilities
1. Lead and develop a wide range of battery testing services.
2. Support internal and external stakeholders to help expand the testing capacity.
3. Work on testing projects from scale up from cell to large pack level programs.
4. Support design, planning and setup of tests and the conduction of the tests themselves working to specific specifications and standards.
5. Support the sales teams when required and provide support on new business development and existing clientele.
6. Write programs for battery test controllers.
7. Provide accurate and high-quality test reports to customers.
8. Assess and understand schematics and battery designs.
9. Validate the project scope and manage multiple projects at one time.
10. Support the development of new technologies and new test setups.
11. Communicate frequently with the customers on the status of projects and their results.
12. Help upskill junior staff.
13. Draw on industry and academic knowledge and apply it to the work.
The Person
1. Educated to degree level or equivalent in Science or Engineering discipline.
2. Working knowledge of testing cells, batteries, EV Battery testing or BESS is essential.
3. Experience at lead or principal level is a must for this role.
4. Previous experience of training junior staff members; direct management isn't required though.
5. Industrial knowledge of laboratory safety and quality management systems.
6. Ability to work independently; self-motivation and adaptability are essential.
7. Happy to work in a fast-paced working environment.
8. Excellent communication skills - verbal and written.
9. Ability to apply academic knowledge into industry.
10. Ability to interpret technical instructions within diagrams and mathematics.
11. Knowledge of customer life cycle.
