In addition, the Field Engineer will also assist with any other programs or opportunities globally as needed and directed by the Senior Director Field Maintenance O&G (SDFM). The objective of this position is to conduct routine maintenance and or other maintenance activities including training and as dictated by the SDFM on instrumentation and ensure that contractual agreed quantities of instrumentation are available to our clients and our partners. Travel inside MOZ and occasional international travel to meet the objectives of the business to perform maintenance activity or other activity as directed by the SDFM. Deliver company maintenance programs to ensure reliability and availability objectives are met Use company systems to ensure work standards are maintained and maintenance activity is reported in a timely manor Conduct audits Train local partner and client personnel as required Manage inventory levels of spares for instrumentation and equipment. Work closely and flexibly with internal and external clients KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. BS in Science or Engineering > 5 years’ experience working with technology (IT, science, engineering, or chemistry) Proficiency with Windows software troubleshooting Experience in the use of and basic maintenance of laboratory analytical equipment Possess the ability to perform moderate to complex troubleshooting activities on various lab instrumentation in an independent manner, following required procedures Good mechanical aptitude Basic understanding of software trouble shooting Ability to exercise complex analytical skills and to make decisions based on established company guidelines Excellent communicator Possess excellent customer service skills Detail-oriented and organized with strong initiative and sense of ownership with all aspects of the job Comfort and flexibility to travel internationally if required at short notice Effective time management SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Due to the work requirements of this position, it is not a normal Monday to Friday, 9 to 5 job; There will be occasions when work will be required in the evenings and or at weekends. There will be a requirement to travel some weekends or evenings. There is an amount of travelling involved and candidates should have no barriers or impediments to travel by air, road, rail or sea The candidate will report to the SDFM however, some day to day activity may also be given by other Management. Fluency in Portuguese and English both written and verbal Specific experience in the setup, maintenance and basic repair of GC, GC-MS and or Fluorimeters would be advantageous WORK REQUIREMENTS The work environment characteristics are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the job.
