Aspire are currently looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a fantastic primary school in Wednesbury. The successful candidate will support children with a range of special educational needs (SEN), providing tailored support to help them access the curriculum and succeed in their learning. Personal care will also be a key aspect of this role.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide one-on-one and group support to students with a variety of SEN, including learning disabilities, autism, and physical disabilities.
2. Assist with personal care needs such as toileting, feeding, and moving and handling, in line with students' individual requirements.
3. Support the class teacher in delivering engaging lessons and ensuring the learning environment is inclusive for all students.
4. Help students to develop independence and social skills within both classroom and playground settings.
5. Monitor and record students' progress, and share observations with the SENCO and teaching staff.
6. Work closely with other staff members, parents, and external professionals to support the needs of the students.
Requirements:
1. Previous experience working with children with SEN is essential, preferably within a primary school setting.
2. Comfortable with providing personal care when required.
3. A caring, patient, and proactive approach to working with children.
4. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
5. A DBS check will be required (can be arranged if necessary).
Hours:
Full-time, 5 days a week (term-time only).
