Job Description
The role of medical receptionist / administrator entails office duties including care navigation, answering the telephone, managing appointments, dealing with the public and general administration duties. Duties are set on a rotational basis. Staff will deal with the public at a main reception area and over the phone.
Responsibilities
* Ensuring an effective and efficient administration service is provided to patients and any other visitor to the practice.
* Following Care Navigation guidance by understanding the patients needs and ensuring to direct to the appropriate source of help.
* Processing telephone requests and in person requests for appointments and telephone consultations.
* Dealing with patient enquiries on a daily basis and ensuring callers are directed to the appropriate health care professional.
* Organising appointments for GPs, nursing staff and paramedics.
* Processing patient information in line with GDPR.
* Undertaking additional administration tasks as allocated by Practice / Business manager.
* Assisting other members of the primary health care team as required.
Further Information
The medical receptionist / administrator is attached to the GP Practice as a member of the Primary Care Team and is responsible for the reception of patients and all clerical duties associated with the efficient organisation of the practice. The successful candidate will be expected to observe total confidentiality in all aspects of this employment. All staff are expected to act in a professional manner at all times, providing a caring service and treating patients in a caring and respectful manner.
There is one full time post available for a period of 9 months maternity cover with a view to employment after the 9 months (probation period applies).
Full time hours of work are 36hrs per week Monday - Friday (9am – 6pm every day except Wednesdays, 9am – 1pm Wednesdays).
Essential Skills
* GCSE English and Maths Grade C or above - listed with grades on CV
* Minimum of 2 years’ experience within the 5 years working in an office as administrator / receptionist
* Working knowledge of Microsoft office products within the work place
* Effective communication skills
* Ability to work well as part of a team
Desirable Skills
* Previous medical reception / medical administration experience
* Experience of dealing with confidential material
* Experience in GDPR legislation
