Component/NPI Engineer

Our client, an expanding engineering company, is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Component/NPI Engineer to join its dynamic team. This role offers the opportunity for an experienced engineer to make a significant impact in a collaborative and innovative environment, ensuring that all components meet exact specifications and performance standards.
Role Overview
The Component Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams, supporting new product introductions and contributing to material cost-saving projects. The position involves collaboration with procurement, quality assurance, and operations to enhance processes and support sourcing initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
1. Data Management: Define and maintain component master data, establish BOMs, and ensure all information is updated within the system.
2. Lifecycle and Change Management: Track component lifecycle status, register changes, handle engineering notifications, and suggest alternative components when needed.
3. Procurement & Technical Support: Collaborate with procurement to validate samples, define technical parameters, and support sourcing decisions.
4. Quality Assurance Partnership: Coordinate with the QA team to set inspection standards and address non-conformities.
5. Cost Optimization: Provide technical input on cost-saving projects, evaluate alternative components, and optimize BOM setup.
6. Operational Guidance: Develop and maintain palettisation instructions, support material tenders, and streamline processes in the setup phase.
Skills and Experience Requirements
1. Technical Background: 5+ years in electrical engineering, with a high level of expertise in SAP and 8+ years of advanced Excel skills (Macros, Pivot Tables).
2. Educational Qualifications: Degree or diploma in an engineering discipline.
3. Analytical Approach: Strong attention to detail and experience in interpreting complex technical data.
