Health & Safety Manager – Site Based

Purpose
To manage Health & Safety activity on site within our Merseyside based plant. This is a ’boots on the ground’ position for a HSE professional who likes to work in a customer facing environment to drive practical solutions and improve workplace health, safety and environment risks.
You will provide site-based support to our Merseyside based plant tasked with liaising with the in-house customer to provide them a detailed HSE report upon request.
To support colleagues as and when required within the wider OPEX and Quality teams - The role will hold responsibility for driving Operational Excellence in collaboration with the OPEX team.
Main Responsibilities – Site Based (Merseyside Location)
1. Report regularly to the Operations Manager
2. Maintain risks level, report HSE performance, project progress and HSE ideas
3. Undertake task risk assessments, maintain the risk registers
4. Liaise with specialist providers for specified risk assessments
5. Assist investigations, root cause analyses and corrective actions
6. Undertake site HSE inductions and refreshers
Skills/Qualifications
1. NEBOSH Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health or equivalent qualification.
2. Environmental management certificate
3. Experience within a Manufacturing/FMCG environment.
4. Skilled in workplace transport, task risk assessment, manual handling assessment, COSHH, PUWER knowledge
5. Demonstration of professional competence and hands-on delivery
6. Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations and HSE ACOPS
7. ISO internal Auditor certificate (desirable)
8. Managing Contractors, permit to work and knowledge of CDM
9. COSHH, PUWER/LOLER, Work at Height, manual handling tools are essential
10. Accident investigation, problem solving, 5Y and A3 RCA.
11. Project planning, management of Change, engaging stakeholders and interested parties
