Job overview
Do you want to start your career in an exciting and busy Radiology department?
Join us at Kings College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. You will work closely with other team members in a supportive and caring environment to enhance and develop your skills as a Radiographer.
We support a great work-life balance, departmental social events, and Continual Personal Development (CPD) time, and we champion staff well-being.
Princess Royal University Hospital encompasses an acute site, providing opportunities to rotate through General radiography (including a busy A+E department), theatres, mobiles, and Fluoroscopy. We also provide imaging services at two community hospitals, allowing a broad range of experience and development. Upon joining our department, you will receive training to be part of the vetting team, ensuring requests are justified in line with IR(ME)R regulations.
Our Radiology department is undergoing an equipment replacement project which includes a state-of-the-art DR X-ray room, C-Arms, IR/cardiac lab with cone beam CT, and new CT and MRI scanners.
You will contribute to the out-of-hours shift system, operational 24/7 Monday to Sunday, including bank holidays and religious festivals.
This post is open to applications from qualified Radiographers and undergraduate student radiographers due to qualify in 2025.
We operate on a 4-day working week, with night duties based on a three-shift (Sun-Tue, Wed-Fri) or single (Sat) shift pattern.
Main duties of the job
Successful applicants can expect to train and rotate through various sections of the department including x-ray imaging services for GP and outpatients, trauma, inpatients, and special procedures using static and mobile x-ray units and static and mobile fluoroscopy units. We also offer opportunities to train in DEXA scanning. Delivering care that is empathetic and patient-centered, while encompassing our trust values of working in a kind, respectful team, are core components of our service.
We are a friendly, diverse team, supported by a Superintendent Radiographer, two Deputy Superintendents Radiographers, and an educational support radiographer who assist with the CPD needs of the department. This includes, but is not limited to, an extensive QA program and opportunities for further development, offering a wide range of training courses. This is an excellent opportunity to learn new clinical skills and broaden your knowledge base within a compassionate team. We support newly qualified radiographers with a ‘buddy’ system, ensuring pastoral care is provided during your induction period and beyond.
There is an expectation to alternate between our three clinical sites: PRUH, Orpington Hospital, and Beckenham Beacon.
