Job Overview
We would like to invite applications from caring, compassionate, and hard-working Health Care Assistants for 25 hours per week at The Park Centre for Breast Care, Breast Symptomatic Department. A friendly and warm environment.
The successful applicants will be employed to support a wide variety of patients and service users through our level 3 fast track and Oncology clinics and a variety of other clinics.
The role is part of a busy breast department, so good communication skills, empathy, and a patient-centered approach are vital for this role.
Main Duties of the Job
The Health Care Assistant is expected to actively participate as a member of the healthcare team and is responsible for contributing towards the smooth and efficient running of the Breast Symptomatic Department.
* Maintain the patient’s respect, dignity, and privacy, and to act with kindness and courtesy to all members of the public.
* Actively work at all times within the Trust policies and statutory legislation.
* Maintain confidentiality of all information obtained through professional attendance on patients.
* Enhance own knowledge base.
* Demonstrate an understanding of the basic principles of imaging and its effect on the patient.
* Participate as a member of the department team providing the highest standard of holistic care.
* Undertake housekeeping duties in accordance with hospital policy.
* Have good IT knowledge of the Radiology Information System (CRIS) and Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).
* Provide clerical assistance as required.
* Prepare ultrasound rooms and equipment for interventional breast procedures.
* Assist in each procedure, including setting up sterile trolley and equipment.
* Identify and prepare patients for the appropriate procedure.
* Ensure effective communication with patients and relatives, explaining procedures and providing reassurance.
* Ensure safe transfer of patients following Trust manual handling policy.
* Provide support to patients during procedures and assist radiologists.
* Provide post-procedural care for patients maintaining privacy and dignity.
* Report any change in patient condition or any problem within the department.
* Provide patients with appropriate post-procedural information leaflets and letters.
* Answer telephone queries and field complaints.
* Prepare appropriate paperwork and labels for specimens.
* Be flexible in shift patterns and working hours.

* Previous experience of working in a healthcare setting
* Some knowledge of Breast services, Symptomatic/NHSBSP
