Job Summary:
Gem Care Homes is an innovative residential childcare company that places a strong emphasis on the mental well-being of our team while utilizing a child-centered therapeutic approach to care. We provide a safe and nurturing environment for children and young people aged 7 to 17 who present a range of behavioral challenges, trauma histories, complex needs, and distressed behaviors.
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Deputy Registered Children’s Manager to oversee the care and management of our residents in a challenging yet rewarding residential setting. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in management within the social care sector, coupled with exceptional leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities:
* Supervision and Leadership: Collaborate with the Home Manager to lead and manage the staff team, including recruitment, training, and ongoing supervision, ensuring that every team member feels supported and empowered in their roles.
* Operational Oversight: Assist in the daily operations of the home, ensuring that we provide a safe, nurturing, and structured environment where children can thrive.
* Care Planning: Develop, implement, and oversee individualized care plans tailored to meet the unique physical, emotional, and social needs of each child.
* Nurturing Support: Foster positive relationships with children, offering both emotional and practical support while creating an atmosphere where every child feels safe, valued, and loved.
* Quality Assurance: Conduct regular assessments to monitor and enhance the quality of care provided, implementing improvements as necessary to uphold our standards.
* Training and Development: Play a key role in the training and professional development of staff, promoting best practices in childcare and support.
* Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and meaningful documentation detailing the journey of each child, reflecting their progress and experiences in a respectful manner.
* Crisis Management: Respond effectively to emergencies and incidents, maintaining a calm demeanor while ensuring that appropriate actions are taken and documentation is fulfilled.
Qualifications and Skills:
* A proven track record of working with children and young people in a leadership capacity within a similar setting is essential to effectively support our residents.
* Strong interpersonal skills, enabling you to engage with children and collaborate seamlessly with colleagues and other professionals.
* Confidence and patience to manage challenging situations, coupled with a belief that each day presents a new opportunity for growth and learning.
* Leadership capabilities to guide and mentor a team, ensuring that positive outcomes are achieved for both staff and children.
Please note that this role typically requires working Monday to Friday, with occasional evenings and weekends as needed. Participation in the on-call rota for management duties will also be required.
