Eye Vet is a specialist ophthalmology referral practice with an opportunity for a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) to join our large friendly nursing team, supported by 2 Patient Care Assistants (PCAs). Varied working areas include prep, theatre, recovery, procedures, and consultations. No reception work is required as there is a dedicated client care team, allowing you to focus solely on nursing. This role offers an excellent work/life balance with shifts between 8.00am and 6.30pm, Monday to Friday, and a 1:8 weekends on-call (only called in if needed by the ophthalmologist). Generous OOH payments per case are provided.
Responsibilities
* Provision of patient care by undertaking all general nursing duties within the practice.
* Clinical duties include admission/discharge of patients, provision of perioperative medications, assistance in the induction of anaesthesia, monitoring of anaesthesia, preparing patients for surgery, theatre assistance, recovery of patients, and instrument cleaning and care.
Hours: 40 hours per week with OOH on-call rota (generous OOH payments).
Candidate Requirements
The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude, be used to working under pressure effectively with high attention to detail, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Understanding of capnography and multiparameter monitors (NIBP, IVPB, capnography, ECG) and experience in referral practice is preferable. No ophthalmology experience is needed as full training is provided. We are looking for someone to make an important contribution to our gold standard delivery of patient care.

Eye Vet is a dedicated Ophthalmology referral clinic in Sutton Weaver, Cheshire. We're conveniently located just off the M56 and close to Liverpool, Manchester, and North Wales. Our close-knit team of veterinary ophthalmologists, nurses, anesthetists, and client care staff are passionate about the ophthalmic treatment we provide. We benefit from multi-disciplinary support from nearby Northwest Veterinary Specialists and the Liverpool University small animal teaching hospital. We treat patients referred by primary-care veterinary practices across the North West of England and North Wales, as well as a variety of animals off-site, including Chester Zoo.
