Job summary Due to retirement, we have a vacancy in our Chichester clinic for a Band 6 Senior Staff Nurse. This is an ideal development opportunity for someone who already has experience in either HIV, genito urinary medicine or contraception, working at Band 5 or 6 level and looking to progress their career. The post is part time up to 31.5 hours/week. We would prefer applicants to be willing to work at least 25 /week. This includes 1 in 4 Saturdays. If successful, you will be required to undertake the BASHH (British Association of Sexual Health and HIV) intermediate competencies, NDFRSH ( Nurse Diploma Faculty of Reproductive and Sexual Health) in contraception, and complete your Letter of Competence for Sub Dermal Implants insertion and removal, training as an implant fitter. The clinic is based within the outpatients department of St Richards Hospital and is part of the West Sussex Integrated Sexual Health Service, with other hub clinics based in Worthing and Crawley. The service runs monthly clinical governance and education sessions, team meetings and quarterly children's safeguarding supervision and peer group supervision. The number of hours worked will inform how often you would be expected to attend these. There is also an annual service wide governance day and an opportunity to take part in audit and occasional research studies. The Trust is a teaching Trust and the clinics support the training of medical students as well as visiting nursing students. Main duties of the job The post holder will be guided by the Team Manager in working on the continued development of the Integrated Sexual Health Service (ISHS) within the locality (hub and spokes). As part of the wider ISHS team they work towards ensuring service provision meets the Key Performance Targets and professionally recognised standards and services in line with National and local strategy, the Department of Health '15 Steps' quality criteria and supports Patient First, a trust-wide approach to improving the quality of care offered to patients. The post holder follows national and local policy. They will liaise with a number of partnership agencies and practitioners, particularly those working with under 18 clients. The post holder will demonstrate specialist knowledge in the assessment, development, care, delivery and evaluation of programmes of care for clients of all ages, often working in settings which are nurse only delivered. They will also share specialist knowledge and skills with all staff within the ISHS and those services being supported by the service. In the absence of the Team Manager the post holder will provide line management, support and advice as necessary to the Band 5, Band 3 and 2 nursing and support staff working within these areas.
